Background Information:
My name is Kathleen Sarles and I teach US Government and World History at Franklin Community High School. I am originally from Chicago, IL and have been living in Indiana since 1998. My professional education was completed at Miami University in Oxford, OH, Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and York University in York, England. I graduated from university in 1998 and have been teaching in Franklin since 2000.

Classroom Overview:
US Government:
According to Indiana Academic Standards, US Government is a required course
to graduate from high school. You are required to accomplish 11 academic
standards to successfully complete this course and receive your diploma.
It is a one-semester class and will include national, state and local government
as well as an in-depth look at the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
World History:
According to Indiana Academic Standards, world history is listed as an
elective course at FCHS and can be used to successfully complete a Core
40 diploma. Completion of this course will include mastery of 11
standards as set by Indiana Academic Standards. It is a two-semester course
and will include historical content from the Fertile Crescent through the
settling of the North American continent.
