PERMISSION SLIP FOR
WORLD HISTORY AND US GOVERNMENT

In the course of the semester and year, there may be times we will be viewing movies, films, slides, works of art or other relevant materials or discussing controversial issues to gain a better understanding of the lesson.  It is my hope to allow students the opportunity to see clips from movies like  Elizabeth, All the President's Men, JFK, Ghandi, Cleopatra, etc.  Through these visual mediums, I believe students gain a better comprehension and allows various learning techniques to be explored.  However, I am requesting your permission for your student to participate in these viewings.  If you feel strongly that you do not want your student to see these types of videos, I will have them prepare an alternate means of grading, typically a written assignment.  All movies used in the course curriculum will have STRONG historical content (usually required to be 70% and higher in accuracy).  This does not mean that each selection will be seen in its entirety, only the portions of the selections that are applicable.

I, ____________________________________________, (name of parent, guardian) give my son/daughter permission to view G, PG, PG-13 and on occasion R rated videos that are historically relevant to the content material involved in this class.  It is with the understanding such material will be based in strong historical references and the material viewed will be used to give visual understanding to the curriculum.
